#@%$&^! Di Man Hit Mi Car!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

^!$!&@^%@$!%&$*!

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, at about 2:45, I was on the phone talk to the GF, when I heard a loud sound... that awful sound you hear when someone hits a car, and then almost simultaneously my car alarm went off! What the hell! Did someone just break into my car right in front of my apartment?

I told my GF to hold on and quickly abandoned the phone to investigate what it was. I killed the lights and quickly peered through the side of the curtain to to see if I would catch the assailant in the act. And so I did! But it wasn't a lurking thief doing his wrongs in the cover of dark, no, it was my neighbour! I was just in time to see his Tacoma moving forward from what seemed to be the right hand side of the front to my car. What the ra.., how this man lick mi car?

I immediately grabbed my keys and head outside to take a closer investigation as the alarm continued to pierce through the once silent still of the night. With my face cracking from the hardness of the anger and bewilderment that overcame me I proceeded towards the assailant, who by now was out of his vehicle walking around surveying.

"How yuh manage hit mi car boss?", I enquired with a tone of anger and frustration.

"Mi neva see it..." He replied, with what sounded like a mixture of remorse and confusion in his voice.

What the ra..! How him nuh fi si mi car! It's a damn 2004 Honda Civic, it is not that small! The worse thing is that on the side he hit there was nothing else parked in the entire 4 vehicle parking that was to the right of my car! Yes it is black, but the entire parking lot is lit and his reverse light was working. This guy circumvented all that free space to come and hit my car? What also didn't make sense is that this guy was driving a left hand vehicle, and reversed into the right hand side of my car! How the hell him miss that! By this time my other neighbour who came in just after the assailant, was just as bewildered as to how he didn't see my car.

I closely examined the car and realised that the right front fender was dented as well as the right hand side of the front bumper. Also on closer examination of the driver I notice to that he was a little dented mentally, yes that bastard was under the influence. Not totally drunk, but nice enough for you to notice and would certainly explain why he ended up hitting my car.

He has agreed to fix back my car without going to the insurance, as that would be futile since the damages would be below the excess and they would have dismissed his claim. I reported the incident to the police, as required by law and for my personal assurance, and got an estimate done for the repairs. This will set him back almost JM$30,000, yep nuff money that for the repairs. But I feel no compassion, I'm sure he has heard it many times,"if you drink, don't drive". Also whenever you are backing up you should take extra care.

I'm glad I caught him in the act as his vehicle showed no evidence of a collision. Now I am anxiously awaiting the completion of the repair work and dread the inconvenience while it is being done. But still mi vex star. It would have been better if it had never happened.

Mobile Again!!!

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Have no fear Stunner is here! No I wasn't captured by big breasted aliens from a strange female filled planet, who conducted several pleasureful experiments on me. I just have been a bit busy... and lazy for the past week. But now I'm back and also baring good news.

After waiting for what seemed an eternity, I finally got my new ride! It was like torture waiting to get my car. I felt so immobile, having to rely on public transportation to take me to and fro. But that is no more, the Stunner is back on the road. Even though I wanted to 2005 new shape civic, I had to change my plans and opt for the 2004 Civic. But I'm not disappointed anymore at all. The car does look pretty decent, considering that it is the VTI model. Any shred of disappointment and heartbreak I felt about not getting to 2005 new shape Civic was blown away with the wind when I felt the power as I increased the rev on the engine. It was like music to my ears to hear the VTECH engine roar! I know I make it sound like a formula one car, but compared to the 1998 Civic Ferio, the 2004 is just that. The new ride has much more room than the previous one and offered a whole new level of comfort with stronger suspension, a pretty appealing dashboard and of course the leather interior! So I guess the 2004 Civic VTI is a decent ride after all.

I got Tuesday of last week and drove home in comfort after about 2 weeks of sponging, taking the taxi and bussing it. Then immediately I had to go get an alarm installed for some kind of pseudo peace of mind. The windows were not tinted and it was pretty uncomfortable driving with clear windows. My previous car was tinted... well dark. So this was not something I was used to, so last Saturday I went to the tint shop to have the windows tinted. I didn't get it as dark as my previous car, but just dark enough to have some privacy and to keep the inside of the car somewhat cooler. The only thing I will add to the car next is 2 fog lamps and I'm done, no whole heap of modifications for me at all! The car price was enough to keep me at bay.

So let me not let you wait anymore,

[DRAMATIC DRUM ROLL]

Let me introduce you to the new,

[EVEN MORE DRAMATIC TRUMPETS]

Stunnermobile (aka Stunner II)!!!!

Walk-Foot

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

On Monday afternoon, I finally parted with my long time friend and travel partner. She was there for me through rain or shine on good roads and on bad roads. But at sometime, even though you have a good relationship, in relationships like this there comes a time when you have to go your separate ways. And I think that time had come, it was time for my new vehicle. So I decided to finally sell my 1998 Honda Civic Ferio and trade in for a 2004 Honda Civic VTI. I know I said before that I wanted the newer shape 2005/2006 civic, but with this salary that just would never be possible. And with that in mind, I do what I have learned to do in my two plus decades of life, lower my expectations for the time being. Even though at nights I dream endless dreams of owning one of those civics on the wide open road. [Sigh] But this will have to do for now, I definitely can't go up into that two million dollars bracket!

So, I am now officially a "walk-foot" (Definition, a person without their own mode of transportation) as of Monday afternoon. I just can't picture myself taking the bus once again, the thought of being squashed by a big fat woman, rubbing up against sweaty, musky people, standing and swaying as the bus drives and stops and worse of all enduring those "bus preachers" shouting on the top of their voices scares the hell out of me! But it's good to have coworkers that drive and to live in a central location. I get to sponge off on them for a ride to and from work. Only problem is that I have to work with their schedule and I pretty much am stuck at home.

I hope to have the new ride by this weekend and I am pretty anxious to jump around that steering wheel and rev it out on the open road! And even more anxious to have my freedom of movement! So until then I anticipate getting my new ride.

Brake Up! High Prices Ahead!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Remember my grand dream of buying myself a 2005 new shape Honda Civic? Will I guess it it still and will continue to be only a dream, as the price tag certainly put some brakes on my car buying plans. Our week Jamaican dollar coupled with the increase in import duties have caused the the car prices to skyrocket. This is further compounded by my weak salary and the salary increase that seems to be eluding me.

I have been checking out the prices of the 2005 new shape civic and it has been one heartbreak and disappointment after the other. I have been looking online at Japanese export websites and even those prices seem out of my reach as the average estimate (my own calculations that is) is $1.7 million! If you think that is bad, you need to hear the used car dealer prices. I went to a used car dealer to investigate. So I went to a particular dealer near to my home even though I didn't see any on display. To my surprise they had one stashed away at the back, so I went with the sales rep to drool uncontrollably. There it was, in it's glory, glistening in the sun, it was beautiful! So I dared to ask the price and I was certainly slapped with the response of $1.95 million! Can you believe it $2 million for a three year old, used vehicle!

My friends my car hunting seems dismal as my dream has become a nightmare filled with the haunting of high prices. But the search continues, hopefully there will be a beam of hope in shining through these dark clouds of high prices. The search continues...

I Think It's Time To Move On...

Friday, May 16, 2008

After a good 4 years of being together, I think it is time to call it quits. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to just get up and give up on a relationship, especially one that has lasted so long. There were good times and bad time, ups and downs, but that can be expected from any relationship. We both have our faults, but I guess that's what a good relationship is all about, learning to accept each other's faults and to work around them. The times we had together and that we still have together is priceless, after all she was my first. The first to make me take control, the first to put total power in my hands, the first to give me the ride of my life the way I wanted.

But with all these positives and memories I can't fight this feeling, the feeling that it's time to part, time to move on with our lives, to take our separate paths. I tried to hold on longer, but the urge is so strong. At first when we came together as a team, it was fun, exhilarating, a bit nerve wrecking as we were both new to each other, even though she was more experienced than me. Even though she treated me well and took me to where I wanted to be as best as she could, despite me not treating her as good as I should have, I still think it's time we moved on.

I know my female bloggers are probably disappointed in me now, but this is just how life is. Nothing lasts forever, no matter how good it was in the beginning, no matter how much work you put in it, at a point you just have to give up. And giving up is so much easier when there is better out there, something newer, with more passion and make you heart crave with lustful desire. Yes I admit it, my heart has been captured by a new flame, no not a flame, a new raging fire!

The new object of my desire is a whole lot sexier, prettier, stronger and from the looks of things feel a lot better. I know without a doubt my new love will give me an even better ride of my life, will take me much further and much quicker than my old love. From the first time I laid eyes on her, it was love at first sight and I could just imagine what it would feel like to be inside, revving, turning and pushing the limits! She is very pricey, not sure if I can muster up the doe to win her over, but I know to have her to do my bidding is worth the effort.

I hope my old love will find someone who will take better care of her than I did, who will make her shine and look flashy. But that is just not me, it will not solve the problems she has and as she ages more problems will only follow. So I have decided to to do what I think is the smart thing and move on... Yes people I have decided it's time to sell my 1998 Honda Civic sedan and upgrade to a newer ride! I have been eying the new shape 2005 Honda Civic sedan! Yes it's pricey, but that is the only vehicle that I see that I want right now as the Japanese shape Accord is too expensive and I really don't want to go up to the 2.0 litre engine with these gas prices. I hope to be rolling clean by late this year if all goes well and the money flows right. So go ahead, gaze and dream with me on the new ride I want to get.
