Besides playing at home parties and cinemas local bands were at a larger, popular venue, the Singapore Badminton Hall. Guitar groups and singers facing their first audience started there. It was considered one of the better places and though it was a furnace inside nobody cared. With the shrieking guitars, thunderous drums, screaming singers and crazy fans, the stadium literally exploded during these concerts!
One of the international bands that appeared there on 16 February 1965, The Rolling Stones, generated so much excitement that "a wall erected for the concert collapsed" (Wikipedia).
Only $8.00 to see The Stones! Now it's $500.00 and more! Arrgh!
