The St. John's Ambulance Brigade Headquarters at Beach Road, which was opened by the late President Yusof Ishak in July 1960, where hundreds of dinners and dances were held nearly every weekend during the 60s and 70s. Different MCs, band groups, singers, comedians, dance troupes exhibited their talent and skill at the recreational hall of this once popular meeting spot. Many guitar groups that had made a significant impact in Singapore 60s music would have appeared at the SJABHQ.
