D'Starlights Philippinos - El Amigo New World

What do they look like? Are these the original members? Where are they now? One of the first and best Phillippino groups to hit Singapore in the early 60s were D'Starlights. When live shows were the in-thing and Singapore was waking up to the reality of colonialism, they visited the three Worlds in the evenings.
This versatile musical combination of talent and entertainment played to capacity at the El Amigo Nighclub at the New World amusement park at Kitchener Road, Singapore.
They have recorded another EP too with Mr Lovin' Luggage Man, Massachusetts, Everything and Miss You. And their performances included high flying kicks and karate chops as the members have black-belt credentials. Choreography wasn't the in-thing with our local bands, so these boys were the first to really entertain on stage.
Philippinos are natural musicians and many of them had positions at our local radio station since the 50s. The Starlites started in 1967 and were already using the keyboard and saxaphones. These exceptionally talented boys helped our fledgeling musicians with arrangement, instrumentation, harmony, voicing. They led the way and were generous enough to share their knowledge and information about music.
