And so the local bands sprouted all over our little island like soya beans. You name them we have them. The names were special indeed, SILVER STRINGS, VELVETONES, SWALLOWS, DUKES, THUNDERBIRDS, FIREBIRDS, QUESTS, MYSTERIANS, STYLERS as the list goes on.
They played the same kind of music with the same kind of beat.
But then if you believe in evolution, these bands grew and recorded their own songs and as vinyls were cut and played and scratched so did the music but they all had that generational beat of the west.
There was originality but it was within the confines of western pops.
