World Cup 2010, Who Will Claim Victory?

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

A great Disappointment occurred today, yes Germany failed miserably and went down 1 - 0 to worthy opponents Spain. However, as expressed in my previous post I was supporting Germany and as such was hoping they would have beat Spain and moved on to conquer the Netherlands team. this was not to be though, as the German team went down, and not even with much of a good fight as far as I see it. They played a lousy game, even though Spain only managed to pull of one goal for the victory. But if you watched the game today, the Spain team more than dominated the German half, the practically played the entire game there! There were only a few, no scarce moments when the German team managed to get the ball over the centre line! Nevertheless, The German team, despite being a young team, did make it a as far as the semi-finals, which even though disappointing, is a very good achievement for them.

The stage is now set for the finals, yes the grand finale of the 2010 World Cup, with Spain and the Netherlands poised to do battle for the football glory! Spain the reigning European champions have been pitched against the 'upsetter' of the World Cup, the Netherlands. Both teams have fought their way to the top and both have their minds set on achieving ultimate victory in the world of football. This World Cup finals is a momentous one for both team as whichever team wins, it will be the first for that team to ever win the World Cup since its inception in 1930. So both teams must have a hunger for victory, as they both have the potential to create history in the World Cup and also for their countries.

With so much at stake, who will win, yes who will be victorious? Here is your chance to predict the outcome of this epic battle in the making. Who do you feel will win the 2010 World Cup? And what will the final score be when the dust settles?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: Spain beat Netherlands 1 - 0. Congratulations Spain

Germany or Spain, Which Team For World Cup Finals?

In just a few hours, one of the biggest match in the 2010 World Cup will be facing off in the final semi-final for a change to play the finals qualifier, the Netherlands team. This game will see the European champions Spain face off with the strong German team to get to the final stage of the World Cup.

I have been supporting both Brazil and Germany for this World Cup and now with Brazil being sent home in a major upset, my only hope is now in Germany. However, it will not be a easy victory for Germany as their opponent Spain is a very strong team. However, despite the absence of one of their star players Thomas Muller, I am still backing Germany and I predict a 2-1 victory against Spain!

I know there are a lot of German and Spain fans out there, so let me know which team you think will win the anticipated semi-final and what the score will be!!!

4x2!!!

Saturday, August 22, 2009

It seems of late that my blog has been converted to a sports blog or an unofficial IAAF World Championship blog! But how could I not blog about this great sporting moment in Jamaica's history? The Jamaica team has certainly been performing well so far in the 2009 IAAF World Championship races so far and today was no exception!

Both our women and men 4x100m team claimed goal today, beating their rival convincingly! there was no doubt that we won those goal, no photo finish necessary! This morning started the day off on a excellent note, our women 4x100m team, comprised of: Simone Facey, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Aleen Bailey, Kerron Stewart claimed the goal medal in 42.06 seconds. Then earlier this afternoon the men 4x100m team, which had the likes of: Steve Mullings, Michael Frater, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, took the gold in 37.31. this 4x100m relay was like a replay of the Beijing Olympics last year, a great race to close of the day.

Congrats to the 4x100m teams, and to the entire Jamaica team, who tore up the tracks at the IAAF World Championship!

For those who want to relive or see for the first time here are the races.

I Am Legend II

Thursday, August 20, 2009

http://berlin.iaaf.org

No, they are not making a sequel to I Am Legend, but the should, but this time the star will not be Will Smith, but our very own Usain Bolt! What else can we call him? His performance at the 2008 Olympics and now at the 2009 IAAF World Championships, is phenomenal, no, legendary! Another page in history was written by this great track and field author, Usain Bolt, when he snatched... no, when he out-rightly and deliberately, without a shadow of a doubt took the gold medal in the 200m finals! Not only did he just convincingly win the race, but he smashed his own World record that he set a year ago with a winning time of 19.19 seconds! Apart from Lightening all i can think of to call him is Legend!

dresonic.wordpress.com

Continuing with the movie script, I think he can have another costar to the cast and she is none other than Melanie Walker, who won the 400m hurdles with the world's second fastest time! Melanie won the race in a convincing manner, similar to that of bolt way ahead of her nearest competitor in 52.42 seconds, a new championship record. Congrats to Melanie Walker on a stellar performance and for getting a gold medal in a great race.

The Jamaican team is certainly on fire at this World Championships in Berlin Germany! They are certainly there collecting precious metals with a medal standings of 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. Congratulations to all of our winners and the entire Jamaican team. Go team Jamaica, go! I know the I Am Legend II will be a blockbuster, with a stellar cast!

Here are the videos, to relive these great moments!

Man or Woman, Identify Yourself!

http://www.charlotteobserver.com

That's exactly what the IAAF is saying to Caster Semanya, the eighteen year old winner of the 2009 800m World Championships! The Guardian reports, "The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) yesterday revealed that Semenya has been the subject of a gender verification process both in her native South Africa, and since she arrived in Berlin. The official investigation could take weeks to draw conclusions with an endocrinologist, a gynaecologist and a psychologist all involved." This dark shadow of doubt about the sex of Caster has now come to the forefront since she claimed victory in the women's 800m World Championships well ahead of the other competitors with a Personal Best of 1 minute 55.45 seconds. But why has a major sporting association raised this sensitive and controversial issue?

I only learned about this sensational and controversial athlete on Wednesday night, and had to check this out for myself. At first I thought hey were questioning her gender because she was somewhat muscular, but I was totally amazed... [rephrase] shocked by her photos! No disrespect to this athlete, but I could definitely see why her gender was in question here. I sat there going through several pictures for female traits and I am still looking! Her entire built appears to be male, broad shoulders, tapered stature, no hips, masculine chiseled face and very well defined! The only thing that appears to be missing is the "male package" in the pubic area! I must admit, after going through several photos, I too have raised questions about the sex of Caster Semanya. I have even gone as far as analyzing her name... Cast (h)er, Se(e) men ya(h)!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/

But putting the crude jokes aside, it must be a very emotional and stressful period for this athlete, in a moment when she and her country should be celebrating a great victory and a milestone in her life and career. Not only is her gender being questioned by curious onlookers, but her gender is being questioned very publicly on the international scene with hints of the possibility of her being stripped of her medal and title. It is not the first time as the Guardian reports, "Semenya's coach, Michael Seme, says he is well used to the commotion. He recalls stopping to use the facilities at a petrol station in Cape Town recently and as Semenya tried to enter the women's toilets, she was stopped by the petrol attendants. "Caster just laughed and asked if they would like her to take off her pants to show them she was a woman,"". Hopefully she can display the same lightheartedness where this much larger issue is concerned. I wish Caster all the best and hope, this is just a case of mistaken identity, that she is actually a "born woman" and that she can celebrate her victory and continue to make strides as an athlete.

100m Domination!

Monday, August 17, 2009

http://berlin.iaaf.org

On Sunday August 16 we witnessed Usain Bold strike on the tracks at Berlin by shattering the world record and claiming Gold in the 100m sprint. We also saw Asafa Powell cling on to the bronze as he sealed third place for himself. Today the women took their turn at dominance of the track when they stepped on their mark to determine who will claim the title for the women's 2009 IAAF World Championships. Would our women accomplish a similar feat as did Usain or Asafa?

I am back in Mount Vernon, which means no cable and no means of watching this anticipated race. So I had to settle for the live race updates on the 2009 IAAF World Championships website. So there i was sitting in front of the laptop watching the results as they came in, and so went out cheers of joy as i saw the results pop up in front of my eyes! Shelly-Ann Fraser crossed the finish line with a World Leading time of 10.73 seconds, followed closely by her fellow team mate Kerron Stewart, with her Personal Best of 10.75 seconds! Gold and Silver for Jamaica! It would have been all Jamaican victory, but Veronica Campbell-Brown was denied the third place by Carmeleta Jetter. Nevertheless, it was great race today, with very good results.

Congrats to our female 100m athletes, they all did well today and have added to the proud feeling that Jamaicans all over have been feeling since yesterday. In case you all missed the race, here is the clip of the race that I got view a few minutes after the race.

Bolt Lightning!

Sunday, August 16, 2009

http://www.universalsports.com

Once again the man dubbed the fastest man on earth has proven why he got that title and in fine style. On Sunday August 12, 2009 the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt, sealed his stamp in the book of athletics records when he smashed the World Record to create a new World Record of 9.58! He did this in the 100m Finals of the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin against two of the best in tracks, Tyson Gay and fellow countryman Asafa Powell. No doubt Bold has become even more invincible after this much anticipated showdown between him and the fastest American Tyson Gay, who was hoping to accomplish the impossible task of beating the sprint king Usain Bolt.

Being in the US, I was very nervous that I would miss this big showdown, but the American media made sure they broadcast this race as their top athlete was running the race of his life. The TV was on, the TV tuned to the race station, anticipation filled the room. The anticipations built, not because I was hoping Bolt would beat Gay, I already knew that, but I wanted to see how well he would smash the record. The athletes took their marks, set and with the exploding from the firing of the gun an clean start was made and within seconds, 9.58 seconds to be exact, it was all over! Usain "Lightning" Bolt smashed his own record and wrote a new record in the books. I wasn't expecting a lot from Asafa Powell, but he gave me the brawta I was looking for as he grabbed the third place with a fine run.

Congrats Usain and Asafa on a great victory and I have to congrats Tyson two for a good run and placing second. However, another challenge is brewing, as the 200m race will see Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay squaring off again as they challenge each other for 200m world supremacy. That promises to be another great showdown on the tracks in Berlin. Will there be an upset? Will there be another World Record? Well only August 20 will tell!

If you missed the race or just wanted to relive the moment, here it is!!!

Bolt Crashes!

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

The worlds fastest man, Usain Bolt crashed one of the fastest cars on earth, his brand new BMW M3! It has been reported that the sprinter lost control of his BMW M3 just after leaving the Vineyards Toll plaza on Highway 2000 in St. Catherine earlier Wednesday afternoon. Reports are that the car has been extensively damaged, as it flipped and landed on the top, after which it came to a rest in a ditch at the side of the highway. Based on the damage sustained by the car, one can easily speculate that he was speeding on the wet highway at the time he lost control of the vehicle. However, the reports have not divulge any cause for the accident so far.

Fortunately though, Usain and the other passengers of the vehicle fared better then the M3, as they emerged with only minor injuries. He and the female passengers were taken to the nearby Spanish Town hospital for treatment.

I am sure when most Jamaicans heard this news their hearts stopped, but blew a sigh of relief when it was announced that he only sustained a few scratches from the ordeal. It would have been a sad day in Jamaica if the worst had happened, but thankfully he escaped serious injury. According to the report, Bolt is to undergo tests over the next 48 hours to determine if he will be able to stick to his competition schedule. It is now the start of the track and field season and Bolt is scheduled for several meets including the London Street Race and the Jamaican Invitational Meet at the National Stadium, as early as Saturday.

Hopefully he will be given the all clear by the doctors and will go on to deliver great performances for the 2009 season. Hopefully he will also learn a lesson form this ordeal and exercise better care not only on the roads, but with his other personal activities. Get well soon Usain!

Crossed the Finish Line at Sigma 2K9

Monday, March 16, 2009

Crowd at Emancipation Park after the race.

On Sunday I once again participated in the annual Sigma Corporate Run, a full five kilometer of rubber hitting hard tar in the heat of the morning sun. I wasn't as confident as I was a few weeks ago, as my training had been derailed by my recent winter vacation in New York. However, backing down was not an option. I would rather fall flat on my face and get hospitalised than not to show up and attempt the race. So at 5:30 am the alarm went off and I geared up in my shorts and running shoes to the song "Eye of the Tiger" resonating in my mind.

This year had a registration of approximately nine thousand people, even though only some of that number actually participated in the race. However, judging from the huge crowd it was hard to tell that it wasn't the full number of people. Knutsford Boulevard was crammed at the beginning of the race and immediately I had to mentally prepare myself to make my way through the huge throng of people covering the pavement with the soles of their running shoes. The race started as usual. a huge mas of people running out some at their top speed, then one by one they start slowing down to a laboured walk. But even then it was still hard to navigate my way around these sometimes mindless zombies drunk of exhaustion and the piercing morning sun. I persisted at a steady pace and kept on going using my breathing techniques.

By the time I reached over to Waterloo Road I had found myself a running partner, one of my coworkers who was steadily making her way along the route. As I ran she kept up with me and so I continued to keep my pace so I don't fall back. The sun was piercing and the pavement was hard, I felt breathless and my muscles cried out in pain but I persisted. The pressure finally got to me after running up Suthermiere Road and started the slight incline of Hope Road when my steady pace was interrupted by my body feeling like it was about to give way. At this point I slowed to a brisk walk, but this was short-lived, as I heard the call of another coworker and I began to run again trying to block out the agony my body was feeling. I guess that 2 weeks break was much more harmful than I thought!

Souvenirs from the race.

I persevered and found the energy to make a sprint... well kind of sprinted my way to the finish-line to make my photo finish in a spanking 34 minutes and 11 seconds. This placed me at position 385 out of a total of 1594 runners. Not too bad eh? Obviously I didn't medal, but I did get two souvenirs from the race. Well, I wanted to do better and would have if I had done more training, but if I am still employed to the company, I will do it again the next time around and even better my record.

Stanfraud?

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Sir Allen Stanford, the man who brought excitement and a lot of money to the game of Cricket, West Indies Cricket especially, has been charged with fraud. According to The Gleaner, on Tuesday February 17, 2009 the US Securities and Exchange Commission formally charged Stanford and three of his companies with "massive" fraud centred around high interest rate CDs. The Securities and Exchange Commission's complaint, filed in federal court in Dallas, alleges that Stanford International Bank sold about US$8 billion of so-called certificates of deposit to investors by promising "improbable and unsubstantiated high interest rates." Reuters has reported that the US authorities have since frozen Stanford's assets have been frozen and a federal judge has appointed a receiver "to take possession and control of defendants' assets for the protection of defendants' victims."

Standford, to the still existing cricket fans, is a well known name as he is the founder of the Standford 20/20 Cricket tournament. this competition seems to overshadow even the Cricket World Cup due to its heavy prizes running up into several million dollars. There is no doubt that the West Indies Cricket Board WCIB and West Indies Cricket have benefited from the monetary inputs of Stanford. Standford's 20/20 Tournament brought something new to West Indies cricket and was seen by many as a last ditch hope to revive the dwindling love of Cricket in the region and to pump some well needed money into the coffers of the WCIB. However, with this new development, it seems that all this heavy funding will come to a screeching halt and the rich Stanford 20/20 Cricket will fail to exist. Already the England and Wales Cricket Board and the West Indies Cricket Board have immediately suspended all their ongoing negotiations with Sir Allen Stanford and his corporate group. Which simply means no more Stanford money for West Indies Cricket. Does this mean even more bad times for Cricket in the region? However, Cricket is not the only sport that will suffer from the loss of Standford's fat money, as his sports financing transcends to football (soccer) and golf.

Putting Sport aside though, this charge has serious implications for many of his investors around the world and even closer to home, here in the Caribbean. It is also frightening, as this is yet another major multi-billion dollar fraud charge coming just on the heels of the Madoff scandal. This leads us to wonder who is next? Which financial entity will be next? How many other companies and their heads have been playing around with our hard earned saving? I see a very frightening trend, and now I'm wondering if my money is just safer under my mattress.

Usain Bolt Celebrates Early ... Very Early

Sunday, August 24, 2008

My coworker emailed this video to me today, which is a comical remake of Usain Bolt's 100 meter Olympic record. I found it quite funny, even they are poking fun at Bolt. But I guess we have to have laugh sometimes even of such great moments. Hope you like it.

The Gold Rush Continues!!!

Friday, August 22, 2008

Once again, the bird nest Stadium shakes with excitement and great track performances! I know it seems all I have been posting about is the Olympics. But I just can help it! how could I contain the jubilant feeling I have inside when I witness the Jamaica team capture one medal after the next especially the well envied goal medal!

Early yesterday morning local time Veronica Campbell-Brown certainly delivered a great performance as she raced to victory in the women's 200 meter finals and claiming the gold medal. She ran through the race powerfully and confidently from start to finish and it certainly paid off! Congratulations to Veronica Campbell Brown on winning the 200 meter sprint in 21.74 seconds and making her country even more proud!

This morning was no different from yesterday as I was just as filled with anticipation and excitement as yesterday or maybe even more. I am sure the entire Jamaica was feeling the same way. Why? It was the finals for both the female 100 meter relays and the men's 100 meter relays! i was on my way to work when the female race began, as some unknown anomaly messed with my alarm and I got up later than I should. I was looking forward to seeing another historic victory, to see Jamaica take home the gold once again. However, this was not to be, as I listened with horror when I heard that the Jamaica female team dropped the baton. My heart and no doubt the hearts of the entire Jamaican population sank when they witnessed this disappointment. This was indeed a great disappointment as we were all looking for another great gold. Nevertheless, I am still proud of the women, despite this mishap, they all still put on a great show and made our country proud in other events. Such is life, you win some, you loose some.

By the time I arrived at the office and gobbled down some breakfast, the excitement had already started to build, despite the earlier disappointment. Everyone was rearing to go as it was time for the 100 meter male relays. This was a promising race with the biggest track stars on the Jamaica team, the two fastest men in the world, Asafa and Bolt. We all kept our fingers crossed and prayed for safe baton changes, the speed of the athletes in the race was not of much concern as we knew they could deliver on that. Everyone was on their mark with the athletes, and the room was filled with noise as the gun went off, we were all shouting, cheering and beating the table as this will have to be the race to redeem our earlier emotions. Our men relay team certainly delivered and avenged the fate of the female team as the blasted through the finish line, claiming the gold medal and setting a new world record of 37.10 seconds! Congratulations to the men's 4x100 team on an amazing victory! I must also extent congrats to the Trinidad and Tobago team who fished second to claim the silver medal. the entire Caribbean must be feeling proud right now!

This has been such an exciting and record breaking Olympics for Jamaica and it is not yet over as, we still have a few more events to go. Hopefully we can do well in these event's and continue on our Gold rush!

"Bolt"s of Lightning Strikes China Again!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Who said lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice? Well that legend was certainly proved false today when a Bolt of lightning struck Beijing this morning; wait… what is that I hear? Beijing was struck twice today? Yes the Jamaica team awed the Bird Nest Stadium with not one, but two brilliant, record breaking wins. Bolt unmistakably and phenomenally claimed the gold medal for the men’s 200m, while shortly after Melaine Walker gracefully, yet powerfully took the gold for the women’s 400m hurdles!

My office was evacuated at approximately 9:18am when everyone moved to the lunchroom, as it was time for the big race. The real big man, Usain Bolt was ready to claim what is his. The tension was high, not because we were nervous for him to win, but because we just wanted to see history in the making. As predicted and expected, Usain Bolt delivered an exciting performance as he shattered the current 200m world record setting a new record of 19.30 and claiming yet another gold medal. Congrats to Usain Bolt for setting yet another record, getting another Gold and making Jamaica and the Caribbean proud.

The contingent shortly gathered again in the lunchroom with bubbling excitement for the women’s 400m hurdles. And exciting it was! Not to be outdone, another female of from the Jamaica team comfortably claimed her Olympic goal as she sprinted away from her competitors. Melaine Walker displayed true determination with each jump of the hurdles to set a new Olympic record for the women’s 400m hurdles and the coveted gold medal. Congrats to Melaine on this achievement and making her nation proud.

Jamaica certainly celebrated these historic victories today all over. Reports are that Half Way Tree in the city of Kingston and St. Andrew came to a standstill today, with several vehicles stopped in their tracks and scores of people swarmed the road to watch the race on the huge screen erected across from the Transport Centre. I drove through Half Way Tree late in the morning and the support and pride of the Jamaican people was clearly evident. If I had invested in Jamaica flags before the Olympics I would have been a rich man by now. Never have I seen so many vehicles and people sporting the Jamaica flag, big or small they were blowing in the wind everywhere. There were several people seen selling flags along the roadway, and some of them were surrounded by mobs of people trying to purchase a flag. Jamaica is certainly a proud and happy nation at this moment as our athletes represent this tiny island wonderfully on the world scene.

Females Dominate 100!

Monday, August 18, 2008

Once again our Jamaican athletes made a memorable event that will be imprinted in the books of history, but this time for our strong female sprinters. Following closely on the ultimate victory of Ussain Bolt, our three 100m female finalists demonstrated total domination the event in an unprecedented way by being the first team in the history of the Olympics to claim one Gold and not only one Silver medal, but two Silver medals!

I must say congrats to Shelly-Ann Fraser for snatching the Gold and her compatriots Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart who held on to the historic double silver medal when they both crossed the finish line in second place. There in no doubt that Beijing and the entire Olympic audience is in shock and possible cardiac arrest after seeing the performance of Bolt and these three female champions.

It was such a wonderful sight to see all three women crossing the finish line claiming the much-coveted top positions. This was even further amplified at the awards ceremony when two Jamaican flags were raised and only one national anthem rang out in the immense stadium. Our athletes have made not only Jamaica proud so far, but the entire Caribbean community who celebrate with the victories of it’s individual islands. As I said in my last post and I will say it again, “More interesting days ahead as our athletes pursue Olympic Gold!”

A "Bolt" of Lightning Strikes Beijing!

Saturday, August 16, 2008

I know that several bloggers have already posted about this, but how could I not join in the throng of proud bloggers in saluting such a remarkable, record breaking performance, finely executed by Usain Bolt?

This was definitely a well anticipated race as it featured the 100m world record holder and Usain Bolt, former 100m record holder Asafa Powell! As I watch the poised athletes, shoot out from from behind the starting line, a "Bolt" of lightning struck the tracks in the "Bird Nest" stadium in Beijing China, stunning the competing athletes and every singe spectator that stared in amazement! Usain Bold, sprinted like no one has ever sprinted before and snatched the 100m Gold record and smashing his own 100m world record that dethroned fellow athlete Asafa Powell with a bewildering 9.69 seconds.

The world breaking record was amazing but what was even more fascinating was the fact that Bolt slowed down and started to celebrate his victory from approximately the 80m mark! What the hell! can you imagine what the record would have been if he didn't ease up? Usain certainly could have never gotten a better last name, Bolt!

I am, however, disappointed with the performance of Asafa Powell, not because he didn't win, but because he didn't even medal. I was looking forward to seeing at least a Gold and Silver for this race. This is just like a rerun of his past performance in the last 100m Olympic final. It seems Asafa, even with his amazing speed, cannot outrun the power of his mind. And thus suffered greatly for this in the last Olympics and this one.

This race belongs to Usain Bolt, who made his country proud by winning the 100m Gold and breaking the world record once again. More interesting days ahead as our athletes pursue Olympic Gold!

Bolt Beats Gay!!!

Sunday, June 1, 2008

Yes you heard right, but I am not talking about some act of violence against a homosexual! On Saturday May 31, 2008 Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt beat the American, Tyson Gay at at the Reebok Grand Prix meet. But not only did he defeat Gay, but he also did the impossible and shattered the record held by the world' s fastest man, fellow Jamaican Sprinter, Asafa Powell! Usain 'bolted' away from Gay's 9.85 seconds clocking a whopping 9.72 seconds, two (2) seconds faster than Asafa's record of 9.74 seconds. So it looks like there is a much anticipated show down, between the two fastest men in the world, the two Jamaicans. Will Bolt stay on Top or will Asafa regain his number one spot? Whatever happens, Jamaica is on top and congrats to Usain on his victory and becoming number one!

PS: I posted a new photo on my photoblog and there is a new poll at the bottom of the page!

Super Bowl!

Sunday, February 4, 2007

The Korean is more of a college football fan, but it's a big day so why not?

Super Bowl XLI is meaningful for the Korean Family because this would be the first Super Bowl that the Korean Father would ever be watching. The Korean Father loves sports, but could not get into football because 1. there is no pro football team in LA, 2. the rules are too complicated. But over the last year's bowl season, the Korean taught the Korean Father how to enjoy America's most popular sport, and the Korean Father now loves football.

Mr. Goodell, (the NFL Commissioner if you didn't know,) the Korean really hopes you would hear this somehow. Do you want to spread football to other countries? Then bring a fucking franchise to Los Angeles. Do you know how many Koreans are Dodgers fans because Dodgers brought Chan-Ho Park? (The Korean hates him because he's an overpaid prick, but that's a different story.) Do you ever wonder why there are 1.6 billion Houston Rockets fans? Currently Pittsburgh Steelers is probably the only NFL team that any Korean knows because Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward is half-Korean. A hypothetical LA team would naturally recruit heavily on Asian and Hispanic population to appeal to the local demographic, and eventually people in Asia and South America would be watching football! It's that simple! Scrap that NFL Europe bullshit, it's not gonna work.

(If you think there is no Asian American football players to be recruited, think again. The current NCAA career passing yardage leader is Timmy Chang from University of Hawaii. One of USC's starting tailbacks is Emmanuel Moody, who is half-Korean. As there will be more Asian Americans in America, there will certainly be a rise in Asian American football players.)

At any rate, this game will be fun. The Korean Father wanted to make a wager with his friend, so the Korean advised him on the bet. Here is the Korean's pick - Colts 24, Bears 21.

Got a question or a comment for the Korean? Email away at askakorean@hotmail.com.

-ADDENDUM: 02/08 9:02 p.m.- Reader Lester M. directed the Korean to the presence of Dat Nguyen, who was an All-American middle linebacker at Texas A&M and played for Dallas Cowboys from 1999 to 2005. Honestly, this is the first year that the Korean ever watched or cared about pro football, and Nguyen's collegiate career was before the Korean's time. But nonetheless, the Korean salutes to Dat Nguyen, who overcame the "undersized" label many times over to become a prolific linebacker.
